
Webinar: “Nutrition and Stress – Supporting Mental Health”
On June 20, 2025, an international webinar titled “Nutrition and Stress – Supporting Mental Health” was held, focusing on the critical relationship between nutrition and mental well-being. The event was organized and conducted with the active participation of faculty members and graduate students from the Department of Grain and Confectionery Products Technology.
One of the key organizers of the webinar was Professor O. Shanina, who coordinated the event on behalf of the department and facilitated international cooperation with the Canadian organization Saskatoon Open Door Society. The main speakers of the webinar included:
• Professor S. Oliinyk, a leading researcher at the department, who delivered a comprehensive analytical presentation on the impact of nutrition on mental health in the context of chronic stress, particularly among vulnerable social groups. Her presentation laid the scientific foundation for the webinar, highlighting modern approaches to nutritional strategies for enhancing mental resilience.
• A. Starusev, a Master’s student in the educational program “Grain Products Technology and Grain Resources”
• D. Slyvar, a Master’s student in the educational program “Technology of Bread, Confectionery, Pasta, and Food Concentrates” The young researchers presented their own analytical findings on the role of macro- and micronutrients in reducing stress levels.
They also provided practical overviews of nutritional strategies that can be applied when working with migrants, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups. Their presentations were distinguished by thorough preparation, topical relevance, and a high level of delivery.
This event served as a vivid example of high-quality international cooperation and the active involvement of young scientists in addressing global challenges.
